Ok, here is a quick summary: Users download the BOINC core client from the=
=20
official BOINC website (http://boinc.berkeley.edu) or from any project=20
website (SETI@home, Einstein@Home, etc.). The BOINC core client is the=20
program, which is included in the boinc-client Debian package. After the=20
first start of the BOINC core client it asks you to attach to a project you=
=20
want to participate in and then it tries to download work units and an=20
additional client program from this project. This additional client program=
 =20
does all the work for the project and the BOINC core client is only=20
responsible for managing the different project clients. The core client=20
communicates with the project's servers, updates the project clients,=20
requests more work or ensures that the user's resources are fairly shared=20
between all attached projects.

As example for a project client: Einstein@Home's client can be found in=20
$BOINC_DIR/projects/einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ and is called=20
einstein_4.80_i686-pc-linux-gnu

Could be an option if there is no sane solution to the "unknown platform"=20
problem, but I'd like to create packages that conform with the DFSG.
