[pkg-boinc-devel] Bug#360143: boinc-manager: Connecting to other host troublesome

Package: boinc-manager
Version: 5.2.15-2
Severity: normal

It is really a trouble trying to connect to a host with a running
boinc other than localhost. Boinc manager tries to connect to
localhost immediately after staring, which is ok by itself. But when
you go to File -> Select computer menu, type the name of the host and
press OK nothing happens! Only after boinc manager decides to timeout
(which is after a minute or more!) are you allowed to choose another
host which is a real PITA. Don't need to mention that it happens every
time. OK, I'll admit it looks like an upstream bug, but I still have a
lot of hope in fine Debian developers. :)

What would be nice is to make boinc manager remember the last host
chosen and automatically use that info next time you start it. That's
how other 99.9% applications work.
