You're probably right, since we fix all our bugs (that we can fix :-) in a 
timely fashion and do regular uploads we were never "threatened" by a NMU...

Right, I agree and I like this statement. If a maintainer or a whole team is 
MIA it should not stall the work of others if they are willing to help out. I 
don't think that the "Don't you dare to touch my package!" attitude of some 
developers does the project any good.
