I had a quick glimpse at your patch and liked it, at least as a start,
suggesting to place it as a dpatch into the debian/patches folder. It would
also suit upstream rather well, wouldn't it? I presume that one could somehow
merge the #ifdef to something more space-efficient, but this is possibly even
less maintainable. The /proc/cpuinfo I recall to also depend on the version
of the kernel, sadly, so maybe in a later version we should try not
to "count" any spaces to become more flexible/stable.
