packages should not be to hunt after the latest upstream revisions. If
this is so important, then upstream should address such themselves. The
more important challenge, imho, is to get the boinc-server packages up
in a nicely Debianised way.

I am confident that this will come, eventually. We'd need to add some
good tutorials to it. This would spawn an enormous amount of possibly
rather local compute projects. And close to my heart I feel that any
community (or industry or society at large) that adopts this technology
gains some serious competitive advantage.
