Debian vs Berkeley benchmarks

Is there a simple explanation of why the Debian packaged boinc-client /
boinc-manager produces a higher integer benchmark (2nd number) than the
same version from Berkeley?
I noticed this again with v6.4.5 from getdeb but it's been true with a
couple prior versions also including v6.2.14 and v5.10.30 when applied
to a Intel Quad of either Q6x00 or Q9xxx variations running either
Ubuntu or Xubuntu.
