The stable version in Lenny is 6.2.14-3 and it's functional, I suggest
to use the Debian repository version (in your case in Squeeze is 6.4.5
+dfsg-2). If you have any problem with this version please submit a bug
and help us to improve the package.

BOINC's version in SID is 6.4.5+dfsg-2, the team is working to update
this package in Sid (and according to the process if not have problems
in Sid the release team migrate this new version to Squeeze). I can't
tell you how much time take to the team this upgrade, but any help it's
very welcome.

The release notes are here [1].
