I had the same problem with 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04.

Resolved by download the CA bundle from the following URL.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/browser/trunk/boinc/curl/ca-
bundle.crt?format=raw

Would it be best to repackage the existing BOINC package with this CA
