have many thanks for your reports. I (still) don't have any system with a GPU myself and cannot help. I did some investments into 
6.12.26 which should find its way to Ubuntu-regular, soon (Natty may have it). Please report on that or a later version when it is 
available to you - and mention
  * the exact type of GPU you run
  * if the test was directly after boot or with a BOINC installation somewhen later
