I am on

$ cat /proc/version
Linux version 3.0.0-2-amd64 (Debian 3.0.0-5) (ben at decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.5.3 (Debian 4.5.3-9) ) #1 SMP Fri Oct 7 20:48:45
UTC 2011

and

 $ /etc/init.d/boinc-client status
Status of BOINC core client: running.
Scheduling of BOINC core client: 2357.
pid 2357's current scheduling policy: SCHED_IDLE
pid 2357's current scheduling priority: 0
Scheduling of BOINC core client's children: 22932.
pid 22932's current scheduling policy: SCHED_IDLE
pid 22932's current scheduling priority: 0
OOM killer status for BOINC core client:.
PID 2357: adj 0, score 2
PID 22932: adj 0, score 88

Seems just fine. It is certainly different for you since otherwise you would not have raised your concerns. Would you be
sufficiently happy for the moment for a test if the files are existing?

Could you also consider to help out with a patch? kernel Documentation, well, yes.

Many thanks

Steffen
