Thanks Locutus, this version works like a charm!
No crash and it connects as usual.
I still get those Glib errors though... but this seems to cause no problems.
I don't know what caused the packaged version to crash but this works as a replacement for the time being. 

Nice to see, that resisting bug is no futile ;)
