But that was not part of Wheezy. Your configuration didn't tell how you
installed that 0.8.8b version. Can you help me here?

So I understand correctly that LANG=C doens't work and LC_ALL=C does?
Also the upstream report mentions that LC_ALL should be better, but not why.
