The procedure I would use is something like:

git clone ssh://git.debian.org/git/pkg-clamav/clamav.git
cd clamav
pristine-tar checkout clamav_0.94.dfsg.orig.tar.gz
mv clamav_0.94.dfsg.orig.tar.gz ../
git branch ubuntu/trunk debian/unstable
git checkout ubuntu/trunk
debuild

Once ubuntu/trunk builds and you're happy with it, you can push it back
up to the repo on alioth with git push --all.
