For Ubuntu users I would recommend the PPA packages if you want to stay
current, but depending on your use case, the PPA packages are not
guaranteed to be compatible with other packages in the archive (this is
like volatile). The packages in -backports or the various Ubuntu release
pockets are all tested and should work with other packages from the
archive.
