This sounds to me like something in your existing ~/.sword/ directory is
triggering the segfault.  Please try renaming it (temporarily) out of
the way, and then running BibleTime and installing one or two modules.
Or, create a new user, log in as that new user, and then run BibleTime,
as a test.

If Bibletime runs fine in either of those test situations, then the
issue is related to exactly what is in your ~/.sword/ directory.
