Just to check, I installed sword 1.9 and the newest xiphos from Debian sid.
Everything appears to behave normally.
Xiphos can use the module manager normally. It installed a Bible, it
installed a commentary, it refreshed resources.
Everything looked fine on Debian.

If you got the package from the Ubuntu PPA, it might help you to contact
the person or group who created the packages in the Ubuntu PPA.
