If the large version number bump was something that needed to be
discussed, then that should have happened before the upload. Since the
upload has already been done I agree with Geert's sentiment that the
only way to adjust the version number (by using an epoch) would be a
little bit ugly.
Best to leave it as is now. Aside from that, unless upstream decides to
do something strange with version numbers in the future this should not
become an issue.
