Mounting normal encrypted filesystems works. Mounting them with
- --readonly works also. What I cannot do is mounting read-only devices
(ie. my DVD device) with --readonly. I suspect that somewhere in the
process cryptsetup tries to write to the device and fails, but then I
don't much about the cryptsetup internals.

And my burner is definitely ok. I burned like 3 DVDs with the same
content and did a binary diff to ensure everything was burned allright.

I use growisofs from the dvd+rw-tools package like this:
$ growisofs -Z /dev/hdc=/usr/local/my_dvd_image
The image creation process is straight forward:
First create an image file on disk (with dd) and make a loopback device
out of it with losetup. Then use luksFormat and luksOpen on the loop
device, and fill the resulting mapped device with data. After that,
close the mapped and loopback devices and burn the image file to DVD.

  Bastian
