thanks

My problem with cryptoroot on LVM turned out to be a different issue, so I'm
cloning the bug report. I found a workaround/solution:
1. In /etc/crypttab, use
  root /dev/mapper/kelev-root none luks
instead of
  root /dev/kelev/root none luks

2. Use root=/dev/mapper/root, i.e., the decrypted device, on the command line.

Not sure if point 1 is documented anywhere, if so I missed it. It should not
be hard to support both variants though, since the device nodes are
identical.
