Please elaborate, what is missing? I use the cryptsetup/usplash combo
right now and it seems to work...

Ok, thats not good, but is it enough reason to disable usplash entirely?
Isn't it better to just document this shortcoming? What use is a VT switch
during boot before there are getty's on the other VT's anyway?

What are the other problems you refer to?
