The size is 128 bytes and permissions are 400.
I've tried to change the permissions to 777 and executing
"/etc/init.d/cryptsetup start" i get the warning that i'm using an
insecure mode on the key file.

No, i don't use LUKS but i've tried to add the cipher option
(aes-cbc-plain) to crypttab file without any luck.
The problem came out after upgrading today to cryptsetup 1.0.6-4 and
i'm wondering why using the command manually without specifying
anything it works like charm...
