I had the same bug. After upgrading from lenny to squeeze the (new)
kernel 2.6.30 left me with the error message "cryptsetup: lvm device
name (/dev/disk/by-uuid/....) does not begin with /dev/mapper/".

After a while (and finding out that /dev/disk/by-uuid/... for my
/dev/sda2 - which is my lvm over luks partition - doesnt exist anymore)
booting with the "old" kernel of lenny worked again (with the "old" one
I got at least a real shell after entering the root-password).

Now Ive reconfigured my linux-image-2.6.xxx package to rebuild the
initramfs and finaly booting with the "new" kernel works!

Regards, Chris
