You're correct. Seems like I mixed things up. Closing this bugreport
was a mistake. This mail should reopen the bugreport and mark as
found/fixed for appropriate versions.

I tried to backport the just released cryptsetup 2:1.4.1-1 Debian
packages to squeeze. Unfortunately this is more complicated than
thought, as versioned build-dependencies libgcrypt11 and libdevmapper
cannot be resolved in squeeze. I don't consider it worth the effort to
backport these build-depends just for testing cryptsetup 1.4.1 on
squeeze. But after a second thought, it's not necessary to verify that
the bug was fixed in subsequent versions of the package. All the
loopback-magic was removed in 2:1.3.0-3 as cryptsetup handles loopback
devices itself since 1.3.0.

Encrypted root fs always includes "unclean unmounts" as luksClose
fails on cryptroot setups. It might be ok to include this fix into a
stable update once security bugs or other important issues require
one, but this bug alone is not worth a stable update for the package.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
