there could be "spoken names" or labels, eg, in cases of installations on a 
single disk, the label could be set to "system disk" so that the message could 
become "Please unlock system disk" and only falling back to "Please unlock 
disk $diskname".

And, in cases of LVM, the label could be the name of the volume group.
