Looks like a worthwhile addition to the cryptsetup package, indeed.
Would you mind filing a Bug against src:cryptsetup (severity wishlist),
so we keep that on screen?  https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting  I can
also file the bug for you if you prefer.
