How a Burn Victim Became a Beauty Inspiration to Many
At age 9, a hot oil spill at her family's restaurant left Shalom Nchom with acute burns on the face, head and neck. All the teasing and glaring by peers and adults pushed her to despair and at age 13 she discovered what make up can do to guard her from bullies.With time, she became a makeup pro, and the same kids who troubled her in school were soon extending her $5 to $25 for her makeup services.
She changed from Shalom Nchom to Shalom Blac and became an inspiration to other women. The 20-year-old's latest video shows Shalom applying makeup to only half of her face. Before performing the skilful lesson, she reveals how she has learned to gain faith in herself, with and without the help of beauty products."You have to be thankful for what you have, because you never know what someone else may be going through," she reveals." Makeup is not the reason why I am happy. I'm happy because I love myself."
Accomplishment of the human spirit is the ability to rise above our problems and not only survive, but flourish in the face of adversity. No school can teach you to turn your disability into ability. It's about how the body acclimatises to the diversity. It's about having the spirit and the will not only to survive, but to overcome a handicap and win.
There has been another kind of accomplishment of the human spirit which people don’t talk about, which shows people possessing extraordinary strength and endurance to withstand suffering and persecution imposed on them by heartless autocrats. We are talking about a relentless oppression of Falun Dafa practitioners in China. Practitioners put up a peaceful resistance with their remarkable faith. Even when they are targeted for their organs and picked up for slaughter, they show an incredible quiet fortitude which the wrongdoers find upsetting!
Falun Dafa, once a very admired meditation method in China, was recognized by the regime for its benefits to society. Sadly, the discipline was banned in its country of origin in 1999 after its popularity was seen as a danger by the Chinese Communist government and has since been brutally persecuted. The practice comprises of easy to learn, simple exercises for the body and is based on assimilation to the values of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Diligent practice leads to a deep understanding of life and the universe, and a profound spiritual awareness. The practice is practiced by people in 114 countries and is increasingly becoming a subject of study by scientists for its advantages to physical and mental well-being.
The torture in China is not only killing lives but repressing the very values which are essential to the health and well-being of all people all over the world. You can help by signing a plea.
