What does “would be nice” means concretely, is there anything else than
the slightly smaller initramfs image?  Personally I'm not against doing
what you propose, but the gain has to outweigh potential regressions
and at the moment this is not obvious to me.

/lib/cryptsetup/askpass is 18kiB and, from a minimal sid VM, removing it
from an initramfs image created with default settings (MODULES=most,
COMPRESS=gzip) reduces its size by only 0.019% (37342kiB → 37335kiB);
doing the same with space-saving settings (MODULES=dep, COMPRESS=xz)
gives a 0.026% gain (7646kiB → 7644kiB).
