changes with postfix -><- sasl2-bin ?

Hello,
 Today I upgraded sasl2-bin to 2.1.22-1 on an debian/unstable machine of
mine. Postfix and sasl have been playing nicely together for months but
things broke today. After pulling my hair out for an hour i decided to
go ahead and try copying my /etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf to
/usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf and everything was fixed. I thought that
/etc/postfix/sasl was the correct location for smtpd.conf in debian. Did
something change or did i get lucky for a long time?
