Hmmm, not without some more details:

$ grep -i ^depends control
Depends: libsasl2-2 (= 2.1.22.dfsg1-4)

This is probably a debhelper issue, because the source package has:
Depends: libsasl2-2 (= ${binary:Version})
which I think debhelper is supposed to fill in.

I think it can be a bit difficult to backport this package, as I said in
another message, because we make extensive use of debhelper 5 features
and get away much easier than otherwise. You'll have to check for
missing features in the sarge debhelper version and rewrite them
manually. I know, it's not much fun :/
