This is temporary because an openldap transition is required to take
place with the cyrus-sasl transition.

The versioned symbols were in fact not added, as you point out. That
was a mistake on my part. Fabian had committed a patch which was
supposed to add versioned symbols, but apparently there is some libtool
magic which goes along with that which has not yet been implemented.
