Bug#411148: sasl2-bin: "/etc/init.d/saslauthd {stop|restart}" kills
instances in unrelated chroots

Package: sasl2-bin
Version: 2.1.22.dfsg1-8
Severity: important
Hi,
/etc/init.d/saslauthd does not seem to honour the pidfile, and when
invoked with the "stop" or "restart" arguments in a chroot, it kills
unrelated saslauthd instances running in other chroots. This is quite
painful as it renders unrelated services running in those chroots
unusable.
This _may_ be considered a bug in start-stop-daemon (it really should
refuse to touch processes running outside the chroot where
start-stop-daemon was invoked in); if you think so, then please re-assign
the bug accordingly.
