I'm not entirely sure, what has probably happened is that you had
libsasl2-modules-gssapi-heimdal installed, which resulted in a migration
to libsasl2-modules-gssapi-mit. Perhaps the features you used were
specific to the Heimdal implementation. For etch, we dropped the Heimdal
package because we didn't have the resources to make a Heimdal package
at that time. We made a transition package that pulled in the MIT
version instead.

For lenny, we're going to reintroduce the Heimdal package. In fact, it's
currently sitting in NEW [0], waiting to be accepted into the archive.

Again, this is just a guess, as I'm not that familiar with the
differences between MIT and Heimdal GSSAPI.
