Better yet, you can just fix it. For example, for OpenLDAP, I added:
# Strip duplicate dependency out of substvars.
sed -i -e 's/ libldap-2.3-0,//' debian/*.substvars
to binary-arch after dh_shlibdeps. The same tactic should work here.
