One of the tools I keep using all the time when I do SASL authentication
is gen-auth <http://jetmore.org/john/code/gen-auth>. I have no idea if it
is part of any package yet. If not, then I definitely recommend to add it
to our SASL test tools. It makes creating the mechanism specific
authentication strings very easy. gen-auth license is GPL 2 or higher.
