Fabian,

I have not seen a need to do so.  However, we can always add +dfsg.1 and
+dfsg.2, etc, which will all sort higher than plain .dfsg.

I'm working on integrating the new upstream version and checking the
recently reported security vulnerability is corrected by the new
upstream release.

Of course, a special update will still be required for stable.
