[Pkg-electronics-devel] gEDA 1.6.0 packages (and packaging)

Hi guys,

I emailed Hamish privately about this when gEDA 1.6.0 was released, but
I've not heard back from him - so I'll send this where I should have
probably sent it in the first place..

I just thought I'd share my work to date in producing preliminary
packages for the gEDA 1.6.0 release.

Since gEDA is now a unified source tarball, the old packaging scripts
required some changes. I've attempted to combine the various
debian/rules files from the existing 1.4.x packages to produce one
which will work with the unified source package.

This new source package produces the same binary packages (and
meta-package) as the 1.4.x series did, but ought to be a lot quicker to
update for new releases in the future.

The packages are at:

https://launchpad.net/~pcjc2/+archive/ppa/+packages

https://edge.launchpad.net/~pcjc2/+archive/ppa/+files/geda-gaf_1.6.0-0~pcjc2.1.diff.gz
https://edge.launchpad.net/~pcjc2/+archive/ppa/+files/geda-gaf_1.6.0-0~pcjc2.1.dsc
https://edge.launchpad.net/~pcjc2/+archive/ppa/+files/geda-gaf_1.6.0.orig.tar.gz

The packages "work", but I'm not sure I got all of the "Debian" bits
right.. For example, when upgrading 1.4.x series packages, the upgrade
required a dist-upgrade to remove the old libgeda?? package and replace
it with the new so version.

Any feedback would be appreciated, as I'm not by any means an expert in
Debian packaging.

Best regards,

Peter C.
