a version KiCad 5 are not rumors any more. :-)
Upstream is a small step before doing the first release candidate of
KiCad5, should happen *this* weekend.

I'm working on preparations for bringing KiCad 5 into Debian for quite
some months now. We already have now new binary package in experimental
that are needed to have a more granual constellation of packages around
the main KiCad tools.

The simulation part which is needed ngspice will need some more time.

I'm sitting right now on the source package kicad itself and hopefully
can upload this with a pre version of KiCad 5 within the next week or so
into experimental.
