I patched the Makefiles to add -std=gnu17 to CFLAGS, but got another 
build error:
Unable to coalesce ssa_names 129 and 268 which are marked as MUST COALESCE.

This seems to be an issue in gcc-15. Same error when building with gcc-snapshot.
I tried to rebuild the package with the same patch against gcc-14, and 
it build successfully:

So shall I upload covered with that patch that fixes this bug, although 
it  will fail to build due to gcc-15 problem ?
