I've committed the package split to the svn for couchdb debian package:

I would be very grateful if Kartik and Sam could review the change
and/or test it out before we ask Sergei to upload. I've adapted the
change from what was shipped in Ubuntu and also test built it in a sid
pbuilder, so I'm optimistic is is a reasonably clean split.

Related to this, I uploaded Chad's updated desktopcouch package into
Ubuntu today that kills the circular dependencies, so I think once
this couchdb split is uploaded to debian we will have cleared the way
for using desktopcouch in debian at long last:
