CouchDB's Futon depends on undocumented functions (httpData) in jQuery 1.4 which were removed in 1.5. Futon doesn't work when used with jQuery 1.5. I'm no expert when it comes to packaging for Debian, but why not just use the version of jQuery shipped with Couch?
