sml-mode or yatex.  Or lua-mode is a single elisp file in the package,
if that seems simpler.

Others like gnuplot-mode or mpg123-el have a for-loop thingie for the ln
linking, but I think *.el like sml-mode is fine.

The idea started in emacs-goodies-el but that's a complicated package
because some .el thee are excluded from emacs versions where they don't
work, and autoloads are built per-flavour.
