As far as I know, there are 2 issues:
- The call to FIPS_mode no longer exists. This has probably never
  worked in Debian in the first place, so a possible solution for
  that would be just to remove the call.
- Warnings about deprecated functions. Those are just warnings,
  the functions aren't going to go away soon, but will at some
  point in the future. So this is something we should be able
  to ignore until upstream fixes it.

I currently don't know when the transition will start.
