Hello exim4-maintainers,
I'm currently testing updates from woody to sarge. Currently we are
using Exim4 on woody and an additional Perl script to gather pop before
smtp data. This data is stored in a Berkeley DB file using
libberkeleydb-perl and Exim4 accesses this database to determine the
list of hosts allowed to relay mail.
With woody, both Exim4 and libberkeleydb-perl are built with support for
Berkeley DB version 3. With sarge, however, Exim4 still binds against
Berkeley DB version 3 (libdb3.so.3), but libberkeleydb-perl is built to
make use of Berkeley DB version 4 (libdb-4.2.so). Therefore, the
database format differs and Exim4 cannot access these databases.
Thus, it would be very helpful, if both would use the same version of
libdb. However, I don't know if changing the Exim4 package is an option,
here. Nevertheless, I guess that I'm not the only one that builds some
Exim4 databases with Perl ...
Cheers,
++Markus
