4.44-2 has my patch in debian/patches, but you forgot to add it to 00list.
Even when in 00list, it won't apply cleanly though.

Please leave this bug open.  I'm working on a much more correct version of my
patch and will send it upstream.  In the meantime I wouldn't worry about it,
just remove debian/patches/37_kbsd-gnu since it's not useful currently.
