Thanks for testing.

I cannot reproduce this on my system, could you please send me
/var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated.tmp and run
/usr/sbin/update-exim4.conf --keepcomments -o /tmp/broken.exim4.conf
and also send the newly generated file /tmp/broken.exim4.conf?
