On at least several computers here, exim goes into an infinite loop when the
computer is booted. Its main log file starts like this:

2005-05-06 16:59:10 exim 4.50 daemon started: pid=3999, -q30m, listening for SMTP on [127.0.0.1]:25
2005-05-06 16:59:10 50 select() failures: Bad file descriptor
2005-05-06 16:59:10 50 select() failures: Bad file descriptor
2005-05-06 16:59:10 50 select() failures: Bad file descriptor
2005-05-06 16:59:10 50 select() failures: Bad file descriptor
2005-05-06 16:59:10 50 select() failures: Bad file descriptor
...

paniclog is the same, but without the banner at the top. If left to
itself, exim will continue using CPU and eating disk space until /var
fills up and it crashes. However, if I just restart it in the usual way
(from init.d), it works fine.

The configuration of this machine is just the "local delivery only" default
setup. Let me know if you need more information.

  Daniel

These bugs are now fixed in sarge as well.
