Bug#430391: exim4: exim4-config: Phantom "non-ascii characters" in update-exim4.conf.conf

Package: exim4
Version: 4.67-5
Severity: important
I have got the same "non-ascii" escaping problem. My
/etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf indeed contains
dc_smarthost='${readfile{/etc/smarthost}{}}'
because I want to be able to change the smarthost according to the
location I am. When I run update-exim4.conf, I get
/usr/sbin/update-exim4.conf: non-ascii value ${readfile{/etc/smarthost}{}} read from /etc/exim4/update-exim4.conf.conf, sanitizing to __readfile_/etc/smarthost____
Cheers,
ChriS
