ln -s /dev/urandom /dev/random
I knew it would decrease security of the entire system, but not sending
email was going to be more of a problem.

As a matter of fact, I upgraded the hardware of the mail server last
year. When I did, I reinstalled the OS, and I initially forgot to
switch to urandom. It ran this way for a while and I noticed that I was
not having problems. I decided to leave it alone. So now I am using
/dev/random, and it still works. I even tried sucking up all the
entropy (cat /dev/random > /dev/null) and sending email- it still works.
