Bug#430057: exim4-config: Some macros and documentation to facilitate easier config of SMTP AUTH

I'm also affected by the Exim lack of support for SSL connections. I
learnt what's going on from Debian bug #386875. Since that bug's closed
I thought it could be useful to provide a link here (for reading) to
give a bit more technical context for those reading this bug:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=386875

As I understand it "SSL" means "smtp-over-tls on port 465" (i.e. "SMTP
AUTH") and is considered deprecated. ISPs should be offering "TLS",
which is "ESMTP STARTTLS on Port 25".

You can test the difference in the evolution mail client. For sending
mail it has both "SSL" and "TLS" alternate options for encrypted mail.

My ISP says they're looking into supporting STARTTLS in the future :)
(I wonder why they don't have it already, is it really that universal
that it's a capital crime not to support it?)
