Many business owners and managers struggle in understanding how to read and use Financial Statements generated by their accountants, to make effective business decisions

This 2 day workshop, presented by an experienced qualified accountant, will help business owners, managers and bookkeepers understand their business better, and using simple but effective tools such as ratio analysis, identify areas of concern, in order to take corrective action with the ultimate aim of converting profits into cash.

After completing this workshop you will be able to read and use Financial information to more effectively manage your profitability, asset efficiency and cash flows and more confidently, liaise with your accountant or bank manager on the financial health of your business.

The Workshop covers the following: 

Day 1

The workshop introduces the theory around the concepts and rules used in preparing the financial statements, with a focus on IFRS for businesses

The Statement of Financial Position, Comprehensive Income and Cash Flow statement are examined in detail, with a 5-point methodology used in reading these statements.

The emphasis of the workshop is that of generating from sales revenue, profits, and then turning those profits into cash.
The first day is completed by the introduction of ratio analysis to understand the key relationships between the three financial statements.

Day 2 

With the theory covered, the Financial Analysis workbook is introduced using a case study that surfaces the practical content of the previous day.

We focus on what the three key users of the financials will be looking at: SARS, Bankers and owners of the business.

Finally, candidates will have the opportunity to analyse their own business, using the workbook and compiling a report that can be generated for distribution to your banker or management.

Participants will learn how to value their own business, using the latest valuation methods.

You will learn how to identify and value the two key drivers of any business ? Revenue Growth and Capital invested, and build up from this into a cash flow model that factors in both current and anticipated business decisions.

The emphases is on cash flow modeling, but other current and common methods will be introduced and discussed to create an awareness of these methodologies.

A structured methodology will be taught to value a business using Financial Statements, from operational cash flows through to Enterprise Value and ultimately Equity Value.
